Lena Legion To Select Badger Boys

Lena--The Doney-DeGrave American Legion Post of Lena announce they will sponsor a junior boy at Lena High School to attend Badger Boys State workshop in June at Ripon College.

Materials have been delivered to the school and the staff will select a student to attend with one alternate in case the first nominee is not able to attend. There is no cost to the student.

On President’s List at DU

Davenport University at Grand Rapids, Mich. announce that Rhonda Raspor of Niagara has been named to the President's List for the fall 2014 semester. The President's List recognizes top students who excel with outstanding academic performance. To achieve recognition, a student must maintain a minimum 3.8 grade point average while enrolled in at least nine credits of regular coursework.

Seeks Valentine Cards for Vets

The Marinette County Consolidated Public Library Services announces Valentines for Veterans requests the public make Valentine cards for veterans and drop them off at public library by Friday, Feb. 6. The cards will be sent to the VA Hospital in Iron Mountain for veterans there. If questions contact Mariel Carter at the Stephenson Public Library at 715-732-7570.

Huff Earns Honors

Over 7,980 Iowa State University at Ames, Iowa undergraduates have been recognized for outstanding academic achievement by being named to the 2014 fall semester Dean's List.

Students named to the Dean's List must have earned a grade point average of at least 3.50 on a 4.00 scale while carrying a minimum of 12 credit hours of graded course work.

Among students honored was Laura Jane Huff of Marinette, a Linguistics major.

4-H Lucky Dog Orientation Jan. 22

The 4-H Lucky Dog Project will hold their orientation meeting on Thursday, Jan. 22 at 6 pm at the Stephenson Public Library in Marinette. Youths learn to train their dogs to show at the Marinette County Fair in the areas of Agility, Obedience, Rally Obedience and Junior Showmanship.

Youth in grades 3-12 in Marinette and Menominee counties can participate. Regular meetings are held at the National Guard Armory in Marinette on Thursday evenings from 6 to 7:30 p.m.
