Kenneth Henry Smith Kenneth Henry Smith, 77, of Fence passed away Sunday, June 21, at Hoffmann Paradise, Armstrong Creek.
Born Dec. 16, 1931, in Tipler, he was the son of the late Herman and Ellen Smith. He attended school in Florence and served in the United States Army for two years, serving overseas as a crane operator.
He married the former Anna Celichowski on Nov. 10, 1951, and she preceded him in death. He later married the former Martha Lou Nichols on Oct. 28, 1978. Who preceded him in death on March 11, 2008. He worked for a short time at Massey Harris and Bucyrus-Erie and at Ladish, Cudahy for most of his life. He later returned to Fence, where he kept busy in retirement as a residential builder and wood craftsman. He was a member of the Fence Volunteer Fire Department and the American Legion Post No. 325, of Goodman.
He is survived by a son, David (Candace) Smith of Aurora, Colo.; a daughter, Virginia Smith of Milwaukee; seven stepchildren, Mrs. Gene (Virginia) Keen of Wausau, Donald ( Bonnie) Nichols of Merrill, Wayne (Dorothy) Nichols of Florence, Edward (Rose) Nichols of Peshtigo, Phillip Nichols of Fence, Glen Nichols of Spread Eagle and Michael (Carol) Nichols of Cudahy; two sisters, Norma Gallion of Crandon and Mrs. Clifford (Arletta) Desotell of Franksville; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; many step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents and his two wives, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert and Gene Smith and two sisters, Alma Statezny and Sandy Amicangelo.
Visitation will be Thursday, June 25, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Jacobs-Lundholm Funeral Home, Florence. Further visitation will be on Friday, June 26, from 9 a.m until time of service at 11 a.m. at the Fence Bible Church. Rev. Timothy Smith will officiate and burial will be in Hillside Cemetery, Fence. American Legion Post No. 325 of Goodman will conduct graveside military honors. Memorials may be made in his name to the Fence Bible Church, P.O. Box 47, Fence, WI, 54120.
