The ceremony included a ribbon cutting and the symbolic pouring of the first glasses of water from the new well by local leaders. The welcome was given by Village of Crivitz President John Deschane. Also taking part in the ribbon cutting ceremony were Craig Schuh, Project Engineer of Ayres Associates; Lori Wells, USDA Rural Development Acting State Director; Marlene Mielke, Office of US Senator Herbert Kohl; Suzanne Brault-Pagel, Office of US Senator Russell Feingold; and Mursau, 36th Assembly District Representative. USDA Rural Development approved an application of funding assistance totaling more than $1.7 million in a federal grant ($525,000) and loan ($1,246,000) in April 2008. USDA Rural Development funds were used to construct a new well and make water main improvements. The construction of the well gave the Village two running wells again. One well was removed from the line due to high nitrate levels. In addition, the village built a river crossing to provide better system reliability and provide a means of looping the dead end located at the west end of the river. A 40-year old water main will also be replaced during road construction on County Highway A.
