Taken into custody were Patrick Scotty Erickson, 20, 2117 13th Ave., Menominee, Mich., and George Jeffery Jardeen, 18, W6353 G12 Road, Stephenson, Mich. Charges of armed robbery were filed against the pair on Tuesday, July 14, by the office of the Marinette County District Attorney. Arrests warrants were also issued by Marinette County Circuit Court Judge Tim Duket.
Erickson and Jardeen are currently being held in the Menominee County Jail awaiting extradition to Marinette County. Both are under $100,000 bond.
According to the complaint, Erickson is alleged to have robbed the Back-A-Gan Bar, 2212 Hall Ave., Marinette while armed about 3 p.m. Monday, July 13. Taken was $3,100 in cash from Christine Graves who was tending bar at the time. The money was later recovered.
Jardeen is charged with being a party to a crime as he was allegedly the driver of a silver colored Chevrolet pickup truck that was stopped a short time later by authorities at the Bridgeview Apartments, 1802 8th Ave., Menominee, Mich., when Erickson jumped out and fled to nearby woods near the Interstate Bridge.
According to the complaint, Erickson entered the bar wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt with the hood over his head, shorts, goggles and gloves. He then fled out the back door on foot.
City of Marinette officers interviewed Jardeen at the Menominee County Jail about 6:35 p.m. Monday, July 13. According to the complaint, Jardeen admitted dropping off Erickson behind the bar.
He told authorities he saw Erickson walking about 1:30 p.m. on 13th St. in Menominee and stopped his vehicle to talk to him. Erickson got into the pickup truck and they went for a ride. Erickson then told Jardeen to go to a residence in Menominee. While he stayed in the vehicle, Erickson went inside the residence and returned with a gray sweatshirt and jacket. He then told Jardeen to go to Marinette for a ride and gave him direction. Enroute, Erickson put on a pair of ski-type goggles.
When asked by authorities what he thought Erickson was going to do, Jardeen believed Erickson was going to rob something. He then pulled up behind the bar and Car Quest Store and Erickson got out walking towards the bar at which point he left, according to the complaint.
At this point, Jardeen said he left and drove around the City of Marinette. He went back onto the Interstate Bridge and observed Erickson running towards him with his hands up. Erickson got into the pickup truck and told Jardeen to go and get out of here, according to the complaint.
