
Robert C. Stodola Robert C. Stodola, 61, of Grand Marsh passed away unexpectedly on Friday, June 26 at the family farm.
Born March 8, 1948 in Brazeau Township, Klondike, he was the second son of Elwyn and Emma (Hoffman) Stodola. Following graduation from Coleman High School and a brief time at St. Norbert College, he served in the United States Army in Vietnam. He received two Purple Hearts and finished his military service at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo. in the Military Police.
In the fall of 1972 he joined the Wallendal family farm where he met his future wife, Carol D. Wallendal. The couple married on May 31, 1975 in Klondike. They had two daughters, Diane and Cathryn and he was very involved in their education and sports activities, especially the Dance Team. He enjoyed Polka music, farming, was an avid deer hunter, Badger and Packer fan and also spending time with his extended family.
He was currently president of Wallendal Supply, Inc. and was a past board member and president of The Wisconsin Potato and Vegetable Growers Association, as well as serving on various committees. He was an active member of the North American Potato Marketing Association and for a time was a member of the Grand Marsh Lions Club. He volunteered his time and services every year at the Grand Marsh Corn ‘n Tater Festival.
Survivors include, his wife, Carol; two daughters, Diane Stodola and Cathryn Stodola, both of Madison; his father, Elwyn Stodola of Oconto; three brothers, Tom (Mary) Stodola of Platteville and Edward (Connie) Stodola and Jerome (Lois) Stodola, both of Lena; his mother in law, Claire Wallendal of Adams; two brothers-in-law, John (Monica) Wallendal of Grand Marsh and Andy (Paula) Wallendal of Friendship; a sister-in-law, Mary Roberts of Buffalo, N.Y. and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Emma Stodola; a nephew, Brian Wallendal; a niece, Teresa Wallendal and his father-in-law, Peter Wallendal.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, June 30 at the Roseberry's Funeral Home in Friendship with Pastor Barbara Merwin officiating. Cremation took place and Interment was at Gould Rock Cemetery.
