
Ernest H. Bedora Ernest H. Bedora, 92, formerly of Marinette, passed away on Friday, July 31, in Wausau.
Born on Aug. 22, 1916, to the late Paul and Augusta (Cudnohufsky) Bedora in Pound, in his early years he worked on the family farm and then drove a milk truck for Frigo Brothers Cheese Co.
In May of 1941 he enlisted in the Army and served for four years during World War II, with two years in the Pacific Theater. He saw action early on during major battle campaigns in the East Indies, New Guinea and Papuan. He began working for Scott Paper on July 16, 1945, and retired from there in December of 1973 after 28 years of service.
On Dec. 15, 1945, he married Claire “Pat” Tobako in Marinette. She preceded him in death on Dec. 21, 1992. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family and was an avid Green Bay Packer and Milwaukee Brewer fan. He was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church and the Marinette American Legion Post 39, from which he received a special citation for 50 years of continuous membership in good standing. In spite of the physical limitations which he endured following retirement, he maintained a stubborn independence and was proud of his Prussian-Polish heritage.
He is survived by two sons, Tom Bedora of Wausau and Allan (Catherine) Bedora of Fairway, Kan.; a daughter, Mrs. Brian (Sharon) Godfrey of Waupaca; one grandson; one great-grandson and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife, Pat, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Chester and Wilbert and a sister, Alice Salesky.
Friends called at Thielen Funeral Home, Marinette on Tuesday, Aug. 4, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Funeral Services were held on Wednesday, Aug. 5, at 10 a.m. at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church with Rev. William Bippus officiating. Burial was in Forest Home Cemetery.
