Find More Than “Fair Value” At Marinette County Fair Aug. 27-30 During the four fun-filled days of the Marinette County Fair to be held at Wausaukee from Thursday, Aug. 27 through Sunday, Aug. 30 families will find a lot more than “fair value”. For more than nine decades, families have been flocking to the fairgrounds in Wausaukee in late August to share and showcase their achievements.
As always, there will be live animal exhibits of all sorts, displays of farm and garden crops, carnival games and rides, an amazing array of live entertainers, coronation of the 4-H queen, Demolition Derby competition, and horse, farm tractor, lawn mower, truck and kiddie tractor pulls.
Fairgoers can see dairy cows, horses, chickens, rabbits, kittens, puppies and much more. Vendors will offer their wares, several county agencies will display their services. Viewers can admire exhibits of arts and crafts, vegetables, fruits and flowers and more.
General admission price is $5 daily and $15 for all four days if purchased at the gate or $12 if purchased in advance. Advance season tickets are available at Associated Bank in Coleman, Witt’s Piggly-Wiggly in Crivitz, Lee’s Family Foods in Peshtigo, Smith’s Market in Wausaukee and the Marinette/Menominee Chamber of Commerce.
Food and beverage stands will offer a variety of treats to tempt all tastes.
The fun starts when the carnival rides open at 1 p.m., on Thursday and Friday but families wanting to save money may want to hold off until 5 p.m. on Thursday, when wristband night and will run until 9 p.m. The carnival is open from 1 p.m. to closing on Thursday and Friday, from noon to midnight on Saturday and from noon to closing on Sunday. Friday features special prices on carnival rides from 1 to 4 p.m., and then another wristband night from 5 to 9 p.m.
Serious fairgoers can start their fun at 11 a.m. Thursday, when with face to face judging of entries begins. The judging ends at 7 p.m. Coronation of the 4-H queen will be conducted with proper pomp and circumstance at 5:30 p.m.
The almost nonstop array of entertainment during all four days of the fair will amaze you. One of the featured performers is a a 13 year old girl, Clarissa Mrowka appearing with the Auburn Sky Band from 2 p.m. on Sunday until the fair closes late Sunday afternoon. The talented girl is a singer, song writer and recording artist who has written six of her own songs. She also plays the guitar and bongo.
Other live music performances include Redneck DJ from 7:30 to 11:30 p.m. Thursday, Nashville Pipeline Friday evening, and Shaken Not Stirred on Saturday night, all in the main pavilion. There will be various performances by Bill Bohm Family Show all four days, plus George of the Juggle, Garry Wick the ventriloquist and of course the ever popular Demo Derby and lawnmower, tractor, horse and truck pulls.
Rabbit, live animal and poultry judging starts at 8:30 .m. Saturday. The ever popular horse pleasure show is slated for 9:30 a.m. on Friday. Sunday is horse fun day, starting at 8 a.m.
