Board Pays Tribute To Deceased Town Official
Niagara--Prior to the start of its Wednesday, Sept. 9, meeting, the Niagara Town Board held a moment of silence in honor of Sharon Morin, town treasurer and clerk for the past 33 years, who died Sept. 5.
The Board reported her ready smile, dedication, expertise, kindness and willingness to serve the needs of each person who called on her will be greatly missed. Our condolences go out to her family during this time of loss.
In the absence of Al Sauld, chairman, who was out of town, the meeting was conducted by Supervisor Richard Payette. The Board accepted the resignation of Sauld from the Town Planning Commission and approved the appointment of June Witkowski as a replacement.
In other action, the Board approved a resolution accepting the dedication of portions of Chapman Road and LaGest Road.
Approved was a contract to allow Marinette County to collect the first installment of town real property taxes. Marinette County already collects the second installment and will continue. The change for town taxpayers will be to mail the first installment of their taxes to Marinette County instead of the Town.
Next regular Town Board meeting is 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 14, in the Town Hall.
