
Matilda A. McElhatten Former Walsh resident, Matilda A. McElhatten, 76, currently residing in Magnolia, Tex. with her daughter, Maggie Russell, passed away there on Saturday, Oct. 31.
The former Matilda A. Krulatz was born in Walsh on March 31, 1933 to the late Martin and Ethel Krulatz of Porterfield.
She graduated in 1951 from Our Lady of Lourdes High School, Marinette and then entered the United States Navy after graduation. She served in the Navy and also the Air Force in the medical field during the Korean War era. She was also in the Reserves and was called to duty during Desert Storm for about six months. She retired from the Navy and continued working in the medical profession.
Surviving are four children, Maggie Russell of Magnolia, Tex., Kathleen Celaya, Cynthia Warden and James M. McElhatten, all of San Antonio, Tex. She is further survived by three sisters, Mildred Bero of Whittemore, Mary Sutter of Mount Horeb and Margaret Esser of Verona and two brothers, John Krulatz of Kenosha and Peter Krulatz of Menominee, Mi.
She was preceded in death by her parents and other siblings.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, Nov. 4 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Klein Funeral Home in Magnolia, Tex. Funeral services will be held in the chapel of the funeral home at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 5. Burial will take place with military honors.
