
Gene W. Pieper Gene W. Pieper, 67, of Lebanon passed away Thursday, Nov. 5 at the Oconomowoc Memorial Hospital, due to Lou Gehrig’s Disease (ALS).
Born in Watertown on May 14, 1942, the son of Wallace and Lillian (Christian) Pieper married the former Shirley Goecks at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Neosho on July 19, 1964.
He attended grade school in Lebanon and was a 1960 graduate of Watertown High School. He was a member of the Wisconsin National Guard and was employed at Midas in Hartford, the Oliver Construction Co. in Oconomowoc, C.G. Schmidt Construction in Milwaukee, Mortenson Building of Milwaukee and was active in dairy farming. After his retirement, he was grounds keeper at Windwood Country Club in Watertown. A member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Lebanon, he served as an usher.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley Pieper of Lebanon; two children, Scott (Melissa) Pieper of Pound and Mrs. Jeremy (Kristine) Navine of Lebanon; his parents; five grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Clifford (Debra) Falkenthal of Hustisford; two brothers, Robert (Judy) Pieper and James (Janet) Pieper, both of Lebanon and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ervin and Ruth Goecks.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, Nov. 10 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Lebanon at 11 a.m. Rev. John Kelling and Rev. Charles Werth officiated and burial was in Ashippun Lutheran Cemetery. Relatives and friends called at Hafemeister Funeral Home in Watertown on Monday, Nov. 9 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and at the church on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
