
Howard A. Bastian Howard “Howie” A. Bastian, 64, Abrams passed away Sunday afternoon, Nov. 8 at his home, after a battle with cancer.
Born Nov. 18, 1944 in Marinette to the late Edward and Martha (Joosten) Bastian, he graduated from Coleman High School in 1963 and served in the United States Army from 1963 to 1966.
After his discharge from service he married Patricia Matuszewski on Oct. 26, 1968 and the couple recently celebrated their 41st wedding anniversary. He was a Journeyman Machinist at Magna Graphics, Nicolet Paper (B-Crew) and Mecca. After his retirement, he worked part-time for Peter’s Concrete as a scale tender and at the Pensaukee Recycling Center.
Survivors include his wife, Pat; a son, Eric (Shelley) Bastian; a daughter, Mrs. Shane (Kelly) Gritt; one grandson; one step-granddaughter; one step-great-grandson; a sister, Mrs. Sid (Dorie) Davidson; two brothers, Bob (Pat) Bastian and Norm (Diana) Bastian; a brother-in-law, G. Buster (Berta) Matuszewski; two sisters-in-law, Sharon (Jerry Schultz) Revolinski and Mrs. Mike (Terri) VanDomelen; his mother-in-law, Arlene Matuszewski and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister and brother-in-law, Bev and John Minzlaff; his father-in-law, Leo Matuszewski and a brother-in-law, Greg Stodola.
Friends may call at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 1253 Cty. J, Little Suamico from 2 p.m. until time of the memorial service at 5 p.m. Pastor Solveig A.H. Zamzow will officiate. Marnocha Funeral Home, Pulaski is serving the family. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in his name.
