From our readers Dear Editor:
My husband and I were at Saturday’s playoff game in Peshtigo. First of all I’d like to congratulate both teams for a very hard-fought game. The Peshtigo football team doesn’t have anything to be ashamed of. They played hard, they played good and in the end Brillion just had more points.
But what I’d really like to comment on were the Peshtigo fans. We were standing along the back fence, usually surrounded by Peshtigo fans. They came, they went, they came back and everyone was just so nice and pleasant to talk with. We all shared stories about our team members, our strengths, our weaknesses, we shared stories about ourselves, and after it was all over, the people around us sincerely wished us good luck in the playoffs. No anger, no frustration, no sour grapes. Just genuine kindness. I’ll tell you, if those dozen people were a sampling of the City of Peshtigo, then your community is definitely a winner! I was impressed!
Sincerely,
Darcy Zander-Feinauer,

Re: USMC Birthday
The United States Marine Corps traces its institutional roots to the Continental Marines of the American Revolutionary War, formed at Tun Tavern in Philadelphia, Pa. by a resolution of the Second Continental Congress on 10 November, 1775, to raise two battalions of Marines. That date is regarded and celebrated as the date of the Marine Corps “Birthday.”
In commemoration, local Marines and families will gather at the Firehouse Bar & Grill in Marinette to celebrate and honor fellow Marines from past, present and future! We have had 234 years of freedom because of the sacrifices all armed forces veterans and their families have made.
So today, Happy Birthday United States Marine Corps, and may there be countless more!

Letter to the Editor:
Are you concerned about the direction the liberal Congress and Presidency are taking our country? Is there anxiety over trillions of dollars that are planned for future programs with little provision of how to pay for it?
Join us at a tea party in Marinette on Saturday, Dec. 5. The event is planned for 1 p.m. at Theater on the Bay. At the party there will be speakers on several topics of concern regarding the impact of government gone wild.
You will have a chance to meet other conservative Marinette County people who like you see constitutional freedoms slipping away. Above all, you will be encouraged to support conservative candidates in the coming elections. Please come out and help to turn our country around before it is too late.
Sincerely,
Clifford Teachout,
Amberg

Letter to the Editor:
I wish to express my complete total and absolute opposition to the trash pickup proposal for the City of Menominee. If trash pickup is contracted out to Waste Management and Menominee gets rid of their waste removal trucks, Waste Management has total control. Their two-year fee freeze will expire.
What if they raise fees $5 in three years and continue in that pattern for many more years. The city will have no recourse but to accept their increases. Closing the bins that accept mattresses, TVs, furniture and appliances is a bad idea. To allow Waste Management to pick up these items for a fee is short sighted.
People won’t pay the fee. Instead, we will find our city and surrounding area victims of Midnight Dumpers. Ditches, vacant lots, etc. will be filled with unwanted household trash. The $5-$10 tipping fee for brush and grass will result in all the bins being closed. The end result will be a much less tidy community.
I urge anyone concerned with this issue to voice their concern at the Nov. 30 public hearing. I also urge you to call your alderman and let them know your feelings on this issue. If we sit idly by, this proposal will become a fact.
David Johnson,
Menominee
The following poems for Thanksgiving were written by Joyce Bedora of Krakow, formerly of Peshtigo.
“Sing With Thanksgiving”
Sing, sing, sing,
To Christ our Savior and King.
With glory, praise and honor,
May our voices forever ring.
Sing grateful praise each morning,
For another brand new day.
Sing praises for the sunshine,
That He sent to light our way.
Sing praises for the health and strength,
He daily doth bestow.
For seeing us through sickness,
And the times we’re feeling low.
Sing praises for our family,
And our friends we hold so dear.
That God has given to us all,
To comfort and to cheer.
Sing praises for the daily needs,
God graciously supplies.
Though often we’re unworthy,
There’s no need that He denies.
Sing praises for the song birds,
And the gentle blowing breeze.
For the mountains and the forests,
And the sky and land and seas.
Sing praise to God for memories,
Of precious moments in the past.
This reminds us of our loved ones,
That will last and last and last.
Sing praise to God eternally,
For all He’s given and done.
For salvation and eternal life,
Through the death of His dear Son.
So sing when your heart is breaking,
Find sweet peace beneath God’s wing.
Turn your heart and life to Jesus,
And begin to sing, sing, sing.
“We Come to Your House”
We come to your house with Thanksgiving,
We come to your house with praise.
Giving glory to God our Father,
And His dear Son all our days.
Singing praises to God forever,
Giving thanks to His precious son.
For giving Himself on Calvary’s tree,
For that includes everyone.

JOYFULLY GIVE THANKS
by Lois A. Wiederhoeft
Thanksgiving Day is near
We search our hearts once more,
for blessings of this year,
adding the years before.
Liberty, we still have
to read God’s Holy Book
While sharing Jesus’ light
we find His loving look.
Souls feed on Living Bread
to know Him and believe.
Joyfully Give God thanks
for blessings we receive.
Lois Wiederhoeft,
Peshtigo
