
Elizabeth McGuire Bengtson Elizabeth McGuire Bengtson, 99, of Menominee passed away at her home on Monday, Nov. 16.
Born June 10, 1910 to the late Thomas and Nellie (Murray) McGuire in Menominee, she graduated from St. John’s Elementary School and then from Menominee High School in 1929.
She married Gilbert M. Bengtson, sr. on Sept. 18, 1937 at St. John’s Church in Menominee and he preceded her in death in April of 1996. She worked for Wisconsin Bell/AT&T Company for 13 years. She was a member of Holy Spirit Church, St. Ann’s Sodality, the League of Sacred Heart, the Society for the Propagation of the Faith and the Marinette Elks Club.
Among survivors are three sons, Dr. Timothy A. (Katherine) Bengtson of Lawrence, Kan., Thomas A. (Barbara) Bengtson of Williamston, Mi. and Patrick F. Bengtson of Menominee; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Gilbert, jr. and four sisters, Margaret Olesen, Bernice Schwala, Katherine Tausheck and Jane Dobija.
Friends may call at Thielen Funeral Home, Marinette on Friday, Nov. 20 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. with St. Ann’s Sodality praying the Rosary at 4:30 p.m. and parish prayers at 7 p.m. Additional time of visitation will be held on Saturday, Nov. 21 at the funeral home from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at Holy Spirit Church on Friday at 11 a.m. with Rev. Ronald Skufca officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Emergency Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 547, Marinette, WI 54143.
