Peterson Is Lone Marine On Bay Team
The effects of a winless season carried over into the all-Bay Conference voting as only one Marinette Marine was honored. The lone choice was 6’4, 275 pound senior tackle Garrett Peterson, who received honorable mention berth on offense. No other members of coach Joel Hanner’s 0-9 squad were picked.
Leading this year’s voting was conference tri-champion West DePere with 10 first team picks, including offensive player of the year in 170 pound senior running back Beau Bellmore. Linebacker Shane VandeHei of Seymour was the defender.
Seymour with 5 first teamers and Shawano 4 joined West DePere atop the league standings.
Oconto Falls collected five honorable mention berths...Lucas Yogerst as a center and linebacker, Sean Gilligan defensive end, Jared Henne running back and Les Hillberg receiver.
The Shawano coaching staff swept the top honors as Bill Hass was named coach of the year and Steve Zais, assistant. Hass formerly coached at Oconto where he resurrected the Blue Devil football program.
