
Richard L. Marbes Richard L. Marbes, 99, of Marinette passed away on Saturday, Nov. 21 at Rennes Health Care Center-West, Peshtigo.
The son of the late Mathew and Helena (Plouff) Marbes was born on April 23, 1910 in Marinette. He married Cecile E. Marineau on May 21, 1932 at St. Joseph’s Church in Marinette and she preceded him in death on June 16, 2007.
In his early years he worked on the boats on the Great Lakes and also with a survey crew to chart the Menominee River. He later worked as a Twin City bus driver and drove for Haller’s. He was a member of Holy Family Church, a men’s bowling club and was the charter treasurer of the Senior Center. He enjoyed going to deer camp and spending time working on his “chalet”.
Survivors include four sons, Kenneth (June) Marbes of Sun City, Fla., Thomas (Mary) Marbes of Lakeland, Fla., Donald (Donna) Marbes of Menominee and David (Linda) Marbes of Marinette; three daughters, Mrs. Roger (Lois) Kniskern of Crivitz, Mrs. Gene (Annette) Francour of Menominee and Mrs. John (Kathleen) Lord of Richland Center; a sister-in-law, Elizabeth Marbes of Forst View, Ill.; 32 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and his wife of 75 years, Cecile, he was preceded in death by a great-grandson, Joseph Bayer; three brothers and four sisters.
Friends may call at St. Joseph’s Church on Carney Blvd., Marinette on Saturday, Nov. 28 from 9:30 a.m. until time of the Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. Rev. Joseph Dorner will officiate and burial will be in Forest Home Cemetery.
