BPM Inc. Among First 32 Leaders In Save Energy Now BPM Inc of Peshtigo marked their commitment to a 25 percent energy intensity reduction goal by partnering with the U.S. Department of Energy and the Save Energy Now® Leader Program, launched by Energy Secretary Steven Chu. BPM Inc is one of the first of 32 leaders across the nation, including 3M, AT&T, DOW, Briggs & Stratton, and Honeywell, that has committed to reduce their industrial intensity by 25 percent over the next decade.
“These companies’ commitments to energy efficiency not only generate significant energy and carbon savings, but also show the entire business community the profitable steps that can be taken to move us all toward a clean energy future,” said Chu. “Working together with American manufacturers, we will leverage the potential of energy efficiency to create new jobs, make our economy more competitive, and reduce carbon pollution.”
Jim Koronkiewicz, General Manager at BPM Inc, said,“BPM has made significant energy efficiency progress since starting in late 2005. This progress has been made possible with the assistance of Wisconsin Focus on Energy and CleanTech Partners. Now it is time to take it to the national level. Our commitment is the same. We will reduce energy consumption and our carbon footprint on a continuous basis. The Save Energy Now® LEADER program affords us access to additional resources as we strive to remain a cost competitive, specialty paper producer.”
The LEADER program is a new component of the existing and successful Save Energy Now® initiative through which companies partner with DOE to conduct energy audits and assessments designed to identify the opportunities for energy and cost savings in the companies’ operations. Participating businesses also have access to tools and training to implement recommendations designed to help reduce their energy use and lower operating costs.
BPM Inc has agreed to establish energy use and energy intensity baselines, and develop an energy management plan over the next 12 months. As indicated by the special “LEADER” designation, BPM Inc is more than just a first actor on the path to greater energy efficiency; they are coming forward to serve as an actual role model and a pace setter on an ongoing basis for others in the industrial sector. In return, they will receive access to select Department of Energy resources, as well as national recognition for energy management achievements.
