Crivitz School Board Primary Election Dec. 29 Five candidates are seeking the seat on the Crivitz School Board in the recall primary election to be held on Tuesday, Dec. 29. If a candidate receives the majority of the votes cast, the candidate will be elected. However, if no candidate receives a majority of the votes cast on Dec. 29, then the top two vote getters will face off in a recall election to be held Tuesday, Jan. 26.
The winner on Jan. 26 will only serve the remainder of the term of David Kwiatkowski, the subject of the recall election, which expires on April 26. Kwiatkowski resigned his seat at the November school board meeting which remains vacant.
Candidates seeking a full three year term for the seat held by Kwiatkowski must also file again by 5 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 5, for the April 6 election.
The five candidates on the Tuesday, Dec. 29 ballot are Jon Behnke, Scott Cline, Pete Pfankuch, Cory L. Sotka and Tom Wiedemeier.
The school district consists of the Village of Crivitz, Town of Beaver Wards 2 and 3, Town of Lake Wards 1 and 2, Town of Middle Inlet Wards 1 and 2, Town of Stephenson Wards 1, 2, 4. 5 and 6, and Town of Riverview.
Candidates who have submitted a candidacy announcement to the Peshtigo Times are Jon Behnke, Scott Cline and Pete Pfankuch.
Behnke, 51, is a former school board member and president of the Crivitz Booster Club. He and his wife, Linda, have three children, two have graduated from Crivitz High School, and one who is a senior.
He is a lifelong resident of Crivitz and a graduate of Crivitz High School and member of St. Mary’s Church. Since 1984 he has been employed at an auto mechanic at Wiedemeier’s Garage.
Cline is a native of Milwaukee and moved to Crivitz in February 2004 and since 2007 has been employed as engineering manager at Wausaukee Composites, Inc. From 2004 until 2007 he was employed a quality manager for Decor Products in Wausaukee. He has a bachelor of science degree in manufacturing engineering Technology from the Milwaukee School of Engineering in 1995.
He and his wife, Stephany, have two sons who are Crivitz school students. The couple has been active in Cub Scouts. Cline is also a state licensed first responder for the Crivitz and Wausaukee Rescue Squads.
Pfankuch is a 1974 graduate of Plymouth High School and a 1978 graduate of UW Platteville. He is self employed in the Broadcast Sports Business working for the national TV networks. He also owns and operates Dyna-Ski Boats which manufactures outboard water ski boats used by ski clubs including the Crivitz Ski Cats and Twin Bridge Ski Team.
He and his wife, Shari, and son, who is a third grader at Crivitz, reside in the Town of Lake. She is a licensed Occupational Therapist and a graduate of UW-Milwaukee.
