Coleman Firemen’s Parade, Picnic Was Huge Success Coleman--The Coleman Firefighter’s 15th Annual Picnic and Parade held Friday and Saturday, July 16-17 was a huge success. The event started on Friday night, July 16 with softball teams from all over the state playing games in a tournament while a DJ played music.
The festivities continued on Saturday, July 17 with early softball games and the PK Fit Walk/Run beginning at 8 am. The annual parade began at 10:30 am with the theme being “Fairytales.” Eighty-seven units proceeded down Main Street.
The winners of the parade entries were: Business: 1st-Northwood Flooring, 2nd-Dan Risner Excavating, 3rd-Pelkins Piggly Wiggly; Church/Religion: Trinity Lutheran Church; Semi-Trailer: Beaver Machine; Agriculture-Reisterer & Schnell; Humor: Katies Sub Shop; Club: End of the Trail 4-H; and Horses: Sunset Riders.
Children also registered to win free bikes sponsored by area businesses and residents. Two air jumpers and games were manned by “The Sunset Riders 4-H Club”. A volleyball Tournament began at noon with 16 teams playing. The winners were 1st-Jiz I, 2nd-Bull Pen, 3rd-Scoundrels.
Doubles horseshoes began around 1 pm with the winners being: 1st-Bob Cole and Kevin Engel, 2nd-Jeff Bickel and Pat Maye, 3rd-Jim Schulte and Dave Kamps.
“Music Brass” played in the afternoon and C'est La Vie at night on Saturday. Fireworks by Northridge Dist. began at 10 pm.
Winners of the $50 raffle were: Dave Reed- $1000, Mary Anne Kust-$800, Mel & Kristi Gross-$500, Ken & K Casper-$450, Kathy Jo Kostrova-$350, Don Bader-$250, $150 each to Jeff Gusick, Linda Pellman, Kelly Kelliber, Sue & Pat Maye, and Nan Gregory. $100 each went to Mel & Kristi Gross, Dave Baker, Rex & Robin Sager, Buck Bergeron, Mel & Kristi Gross, Brandon Schoenborn, Don Bader, Don Bader, and Don Klug.
The Parade Committee also raffled off a 32 inch flat screen TV and the winner was Cindy Kostreva. The proceeds for that will go toward next years bike giveaway. The softball tournament ended on Sunday and the Winners were: 1st-The Dugout (Manitowoc), 2nd-Jiz II (Coleman), 3rd-Vinyl Pro (Manitowoc).
Raffles were held all day accompanied by food, refreshments and fun! Special thanks to the Parade Committee, Rosie Nowak, Ida Soletske, and Gerald Connick. Also Aaron and Julie Patefield, Darlene Rhode, and Village of Coleman employees.
