Texas Police Get False Tip From a Psychic
A news item about two weeks ago told of a fruitless search by police in a town in Texas for numerous bodies of murder victims buried on property there, including those of children, predicted by a local psychic.
No bodies were found. The police were in a dilemma because if the psychic had something and they failed to act, and bodies were found in some other way, they would have been severely criticized.
Although the findings of science are all around us, there are still many, for example, that believe that global climate change is a hoax, despite evidence of ice cap meltings in the arctic, dreamed up by kooks who falsely claim that human activity can harm our environment, water and air, the rivers, lakes, sea, and the atmosphere.
Witchcraft, spooks and psychics still have their believers in this 21st century, despite space flight a man visiting the moon, and technological marvels of all kinds achieved by rational scientific advances.
In the Peshtigo Times issue of August 8, 1998, the Old-Timer poked a little fun at the claims of psychics back then, 13 years ago:
UFO ALIENS STEALING LAWN ORNAMENTS
Reports from the Dallas-Fort Worth area and other parts of the southwest have proven that UFO aliens are stealing lawn ornaments in a large area after a psychic from Laredo first proved it. They steal mainly pink plastic flamingos and take them aboard their strange craft for unknown reasons, possibly esthetic rage.
This shocking conclusion was reached by authorities after an eyewitness account from the Chief of Police of Waco, Tex. and other reliable informants, who had observed a UFO landing briefly in the yard of an elderly pensioner. When the craft departed six pink flamingos and a large plastic wishing well were missing. The elderly gentleman is now undergoing intensive therapy by a group of trauma counselors. He had actually witnessed the creatures, with domed heads and glowing eyes, as they were loading his ornaments into their UFO and talking back and forth in a weird, buzzing singsong kind of speech.
CHILD BORN HALF HUMAN , HALF DUCK IN INDONESIAN VILLAGE
Poultry experts have consulted a village psychic after being shocked by recent news that a young woman who had been herding a flock of ducks had given birth to to an infant who is half duck and half human. The child has a large yellow bill, wings and webbed feet and is feathered with yellow down. The child is otherwise quite normal, except for an occasional peeping utterance. Scientists and medical men are baffled and several psychics from Bangladesh have arrived to try to puzzle out the answers. The womans husband is said to be near nervous collapse, howls unconsolably, and is under in-depth therapy by a team of special counselors flown in from Australia.
