Niagara Ups Dog Fines
Issue Date: January 5, 2012
The City of Niagara at their Wednesday, Dec. 21 Council meeting amended its ordinance on pit bull dogs or other types of dogs considered to be dangerous.
First offense violation of the ordinance is $25 to $250 and for subsequent violations the fine will be $50 to $500. The ordinance also defines what is a vicious dog.
Niagara already has an ordinance prohibiting pit bulls but some residents continue to keep them at their residences. The amendment was adopted in the hope that larger fines will consider residents to reconsider keeping pit bulls or other types of dangerous dogs.
