To the Editor:

Regarding your Brazeau recall article published in the April 11 edition, it is very apparent that Mr. Luebke is becoming very distraught by his own actions.

Last month in your letters to the editor the old Brazeau clerk was writing poems about me; this month they’re writing articles making me out to be some sort of “Mob Boss.”

Luebke or Duddek’s rhetoric doesn’t bother me in the least. What does bother me is the fact that Luebke is now employing the same rancid and distasteful tactics that Porior used to attack the people of this Town with his uncalled for ridicule and sarcastic remarks when he initiated the recall.

Just because the majority of people in this Town can see right through Luebke and Porior’s deception and out and out lies, that doesn’t give either one of these individuals the right to go around bashing them with malicious criticism.

It’s one thing to try and steal an election with a frivolous recall effort. It is another thing to go out and condemn innocent people for disagreeing.

Both Porior and Luebke can hang their heads in shame, not only for causing unwarranted trouble in our Town and placing an undue burden on the taxpayers, but because of the disgustingly foul and offensive conduct they both are discharging against this Town.

Letter to Editor:

Why can’t we block political phone calls and stop the political flyers in our mailbox?? I don’t think they change anyone’s minds on how to vote with these tactics and what a waste of money.

It’s bad enough we have to watch the political commercials on TV every 45 seconds. If anyone knows how to block the calls and mail, let me know. I’m sure others want to know the same thing.

A story on the U.S. G.I.s taken prisoner during wartime left out one important part. The G.I.s captured during the “Forgotten” war in Korea June 30, 1950 until July 26, 1953. Thousands were taken prisoner and suffered ungodly torture from the Korean and Chinese. Some were taken to Russia and never heard from again.

Letter to the Editor:

I am writing to discuss the Obligations (retirement and healthcare) entered into by almost all local, state and federal governments which have become non-sustainable. The solutions proposed by some groups (taxing the rich and corporations) is not a workable solution. If we were to take 100% of the money from the rich, we could fund less than one year of these obligations. That leaves corporations. Let’s disregard for this discussion what percentage of these taxes would be passed on to the consumer and the impact on our job market.

A corporation is a piece of paper and does not pay taxes. PEOPLE PAY TAXES. Corporation is made up of three categories of people (management, investors and workers). Since management has already had 100% of their money taken from them, by our 100% taxation on the rich, we are left with investors and workers. Investors are either the aforementioned “rich” or 401K people. If we take 100% of the money from investors, it’s goodbye 401K plans. Since the working class is already taxed heavily, and they vote, this seems to me to not be an option.

We now come to the crux of the problem. To fund these obligations, we must borrow the money and present the bill to our children and grandchildren.

I am a retired teacher and cannot express to you the extent of the disappointment I have in my fellow teachers for one thing � expecting their children and grandchildren to pay these obligations, and secondly � the “unprofessional” way they chanted and beat drums to pressure the politicians to pass the bill onto our progeny. Since the public employees seem so fond of chants, I recall a poem from my childhood which should be chanted when you enter the voting booth:

Fe, Fi, Fo, Fum,

I smell the blood of my grandchildren,

Be they live or be they dead,

I’ll grind their bones to make my bread.

In June pull the appropriate lever.

About five years ago a young man stole a car and wrecked it. He walked to my house, stole my car and totaled it. He was DUI and was sentenced to about one year in county jail. Big sentence. He was told to pay me $1,800 restitution. The year passed and he was released, with no job, and was back in jail in nine months for DUI again. I was awarded 6% interest added onto my $1,800 because he was on work release. He escaped and was caught, and spent more time in jail. When he was released, he went to the State of Michigan on probation and was supposed to be working at a relative’s business, and I tried to garnish his wages.

At a $65 fee, his relative sent me a letter stating he never worked there. It was a cover up. After reporting it to probation nothing happened, and again he was caught for DUI, was back in jail, probation, and now released from probation altogether. I’m not allowed any information on him. I tried talking to both Wisconsin and Michigan probation and most of the time my calls were not returned. I never got help and a Wisconsin probation officer told me restitution was never paid and the sentences were never enforced so I was out of luck.

I have called all the people I can � victims rights agency, court system in Marinette County, probation officers in the two states, and the office of Wisconsin 36 District Rep Jeff Mursau twice. Most of the time they tell me to call here or there, but no help has come and no return calls. I’m not sure who the legal victim is but it must not be me.

My experience with the Marinette County court system and anyone connected to the court system and state officials is they are not going to help.

I may not obtain his Social Security number unless I hire a lawyer to get it, in order to get his state income tax, like child welfare or the jail system can with no problem. They have unlimited power, and I as the victim have none.

So if you want help, look for none in the legal system if you’re a victim in Marinette County, State of Wisconsin or State of Michigan.

Re: Town of Brazeau Recall

The Concerned Citizens state that Enix and Hanna are liars. You would think they would double check the facts.

They state that when Enix approves his and his wife’s expenses, it is “counter to State Ethics Rules.” This is not true. Under the ethics rules, Subchapter III, Chapter 19.59 (1) (d) it states “paragraph (c) does not prohibit a local public official from taking any action concerning the lawful payment of salaries or employee benefits or reimbursement of actual and necessary expenses.”

The Concerned Citizens state that the statutes require a vote by the electors to spend more than $5,000 per mile, and that the board did not get that approval. This is not true. As provided in the statutes, a greater amount was authorized at the Annual Town Meeting when the electors voted “to leave construction/maintenance up to the discretion of the board.”

“Hanna and Enix approved road projects that resulted in spending $527,980.13.” This statement is not true. It was corrected at a special meeting of the Board, and the Annual Report shows $437,938.35. This includes $86,790.36 for Lentz Road which was approved in previous years. I believe it should be excluded. This would leave a balance of $351,147.99, which is $176,832.14 less than they show.

Hanna and Enix approved spending $398,683 for Public Safety. This was $259,469 over the budget of $139,214. However, it is not fair to use these numbers, as only $80,000 came from the town.

Isn’t it good management practice to take advantage of purchasing a new rescue vehicle and new fire engine when the opportunity is presented? Isn’t it good management practice to catch up on necessary road work when the opportunity is presented? Or is it good management practice to raise taxes and keep money for a PET PROJECT against the votes of the people?

If Enix and Hanna are such poor managers, how did my taxes go down?

I question the expertise of anyone claiming that roads are being repaired when it is not necessary. I don’t believe Scott Thomson and other contractors would agree they are working on roads that don’t need it.

I don’t know if $1,874.78 for mileage is excessive, but three trips a month for nine months doesn’t seem excessive.

I do know that we did not spend $5,000 for consulting fees because of Enix. I do know that we did not spend $7,000 on legal fees because of Enix and Hanna. I do know that we did not spend $8,000 on a deputy clerk because of Hanna and Enix.

I do know that my taxes went down because of Hanna and Enix. I do know that you are wasting the town’s time and money with your recall.

You state this is not about the Emergency Services building, and I totally agree. It is about the community building � proposed and pushed by Mike Luebke from the beginning. It is time for the Rescue Squad and the Fire Department to realize that Luebke screwed up this project from the beginning by ignoring the real needs and pushing his pet project.

I see that their fear tactics have increased � blaming Enix and Hanna for lies apparently is not enough. Now they have to expand to “bullying and fear of retribution.” Please tell me what political decisions I should be afraid of if you win the recall.

I have observed your vindictive actions and I read your opinions and outright lies for the last year. I will take your threat of retribution seriously.
