THE CITY REBORN FROM THE ASHES OF AMERICA'S MOST DISASTROUS FOREST FIRE
Plan to Restore Former Ahles Resort Cabin
Issue Date: May 2, 2012
Chris Roger donated the Honeymoon Cabin from Ahle 's Resort on Lake Noquebay to the Crivitz-Stephenson Historical Society. The cabin was originally constructed in the late 1800 's on the island in Lake Noquebay and later moved to Ahle 's Resort by its founder John Ahle.
The late Doris Allen, granddaughter of Ahle had continued to run the resort until she died in 2011. At that time Ahle 's was the oldest active resort in the State of Wisconsin. The Historical Society plans to restore the cabin and use it for displaying the rich history of tourism in the Crivitz area. Anyone wishing to help offset the cost of the restoration can send a tax deductible donation to the Historical Society, PO Box 776, Crivitz, WI 54114. Donations will be richly appreciated.
During this off season the Historical Society has completed repainting of the interior of the original museum building and displays will be set up for the coming season. Several work days are planned to set up new displays and get the museum ready. Next meeting is Saturday, May 5th at 8:30 AM. Other dates are Saturday , May 12, Wednesday, May 16 with completion by Thursday, May 17.
With the 100th anniversaries of the Crivitz Fire Department in 2012 and Crivitz High School in 2013, special displays honoring the accomplishments during the past 100 years are planned.
The museum will be open from Memorial Day through Labor Day on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays.
