Peshtigo Tops White Lake 3-0 To Improve Division Mark To 6-2
Coming up with a split in diamond clashes this week, the Peshtigo Legion team fell to visiting Marinette Wednesday 12-7 before blanking White Lake Monday 3-0.
Peshtigo is now 6-6 on the season, 6-2 in the North Division of the Fox River Valley Legion League and trails first place Marinette (5-1) by percentage points.
Coach Geoff Sparks will get his troops back on the baseball field on Monday, July 9 entertaining Menominee at 5:30pm before heading to Abrams on July 10 for a 5:30pm outing.

5 Hits In 3-0 Win
Getting a solid pitching performance from the duo of Trevor Bero (5 innings) and Brandon Barrette (2), Peshtigo made the most of 4 hits to collect a 3-0 league win Monday over White Lake.
Starter Bero yielded 4 hits, 3 walks and fanned 4 over 5 innings before Barrette registered 6 strikeouts and was touched for one hit over the final two frames.
In the opening inning, Joey Sparks lashed an one-out single, stole second and moved to third on a wild throw. He crossed the plate when Tyler Marquardts grounder was booted for a 1-0 lead.
Peshtigo upped the edge to 2-0 in the third as Bero singled with one out and raced home on a RBI double off the bat of Marquardt.
Tom Quigley drew a walk to open the fourth inning, moved up on a passed ball before scoring on single by Adam Thill. Peshtigo tried adding more runs in the inning as James Brabant reached on an error, but came up empty following a pair of groundouts and a strikeout.
Bero avoided trouble throughout the game as White Lake had two runners on base in the first, second and fifth innings.
Barrette took over the mound duties in the sixth and fanned 4 batters only to see TJ Kloehn reach on an error on catcher Cody Nielsen.
In the seventh inning, Joe Kubaoki lashed a one out single before Barrette threw his strikeout pitch past Seth Pastier and Luke Wickersheim to end the game.
