Catherine A. Seppel

Catherine Ann “Cathie” Seppel, 82, of Green Bay died Thursday, July 12.

Born Oct. 27, 1929 in Racine to the late Leo Steven and Caroline Pauline (Diem) Williams, she graduated from St. Catherine High School in Racine in 1947. In 1949 she moved to Green Bay and on Aug. 19, 1950 married Jerome Irving “Jerry” Seppel at St. Edward Catholic Church in Racine. He preceded her in death on July 24, 1978.

From 1979 until her retirement in 1993, she was employed as an administrative assistant at IBA College of Cosmetology in Green Bay. She was a longtime, active member of Annunciation Parish where she served as a Church Lector and Eucharistic Minister. She served communion to the home bound at nursing homes and enjoyed going to Western Village Nursing Home for over 18 years. She also delivered Meals on Wheels and volunteered at St. Mary’s Hospital in the Pastoral Care Department. She enjoyed golfing in the Brown County Women’s Golf League and especially enjoyed traveling, including trips to Singapore, Malaysia, Ireland, Hawaii, Alaska and many others.

She is survived by nine children, Jay Seppel and Patti Jo Thomas and Guy and Linda Seppel, both of Montana, Gail and Thomas Updyke of Peshtigo, Kay Mary and Scott Moore and Dawn and Bruce Knaus, both of Green Bay, Lynn Marie and Amos Johnson of Alaska, Kim and Tim Marty of Appleton, Paul and Karynn Seppel of Indiana, Tina and Paul Garsow of Fence; a son-in-law, Michael Baciak of Marinette; 24 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; a brother, Ralph Williams of Racine; sisters and brothers-in-law, Dorothy Griffard of Michigan; Margaret and Joseph Dahlen of Hortonville, Carol and Fred Nelson of California and Connie and Jim Calvino of Illinois and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Besides her parents and her husband, Jerome, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Jodie Ann Baciak; a son, Jim Michael Seppel and three brothers, Thomas, James and George Williams.

Friends called at Blaney Funeral Home, Green Bay from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday, July 15, with a parish wake service held at 7 p.m. Visitation continued on Monday, July 16 at Annunciation Catholic Church from 10 a.m. until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Rev. Don Everts officiated and burial was in Fort Howard Memorial Park.
