Robert M. "Rob" Zimmerman, 46, of Spread Eagle passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, Aug. 28 at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital in Iron Mountain, Mi.
Born Sept. 27, 1965 in Milwaukee, he was the son of Emelie (Broullire) Zimmerman and Guy Zimmerman. He graduated from Niagara High School in 1984 and was a lifelong resident of the area.
He married Annette Johnson on Sept. 7, 1991 at First Covenant Church in Iron Mountain and was a mechanic by trade. He started working with his father at Spread Eagle Marine & Cycle. He also worked for a short time at Nicolet Marine before taking a position in the service department at Stateline Chevrolet in Crystal Falls where he had been employed for the last 10 years. His passion was racing and over the past five years he had been racing his own car at Norway Speedway. He enjoyed attending racing banquets and meetings and was an avid NASCAR and Packer fan. He also enjoyed hunting, snowmobiling, ATV rides, camping and spending time with family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Annette; his mother-in-law, Rose Johnson of Iron Mountain; a brother-in-law, Darin (Susie) Johnson of Norway; sisters-in-law, Rebecca (Stuart) Nelson of Eden Prairie, Minn., Carolyn (Victor) Doyle of Chanhassen, Minn. and Dayna Johnson of Minnetonka, Minn.; aunts and uncles, William (Karen) Broullire of Aurora, Jeannette (Joseph) Sementilli of Kingsford, Alice Kallenbach and Raymond (Barbara) Broullire, of Iron Mountain, Marie (Glenn) Windell of Aurora, Barbara (Robert) Beauchamp, Eileen (Bruce) LaLiberte and Gerard (Paula) Broullire, all of Niagara, Carole (Frank) Rebedew of Neshkoro and Lindy Zimmerman of Fond du Lac; special friends, Mark and Cindy Miller, Ed and Mary Sergy and James and Marie Blanton and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Emelie Zimmerman; his father, Guy Zimmerman; his father-in-law, Marshall Johnson and an uncle, Delbert Kallenbach.
Visitation was from 10 a.m. to noon on Friday, Aug. 31 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Niagara. A Memorial Mass followed at noon at the church with Fr. Matthew Settle officiating. The family entrusted the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home of Iron Mountain, Mi. with the funeral arrangements.
