Peshtigo Gals Claim 6th At Freedom Run; Friedman Top Panther
Going up against some tough competition at the 21-team Freedom cross-country run Friday, the Peshtigo girls came up with a sixth place finish with 194 points. Oconto Falls was 19th at 483 and Gillett 20th with 504 points.
Leading the girls portion of the run was host Freedom with 80 points followed by Appleton North 91 and Luxemburg-Casco 114.
Liz Bloy of Freedom had the winning time of 14:44 with Kristen Linzmeier of Chilton second at 15:00.
Sophomore Anna Madsen registered the top time for Peshtigo with a 15:55 clocking and 9th place, freshman Saige Ruleau 19th 16:09, sophomore Carlee Mylener 52nd 17:29, freshman Ryleigh Klaver 56th 17:41 and sophomore Sam Rauch 58th 17:44.
Freshman Bailey Wolf put together a 6th place clocking of 15:51 for Oconto Falls with Erin Gilligan 100th 19:12 and Chloe Hetzel 115th 19:52.
Finishing 20th as a team, Gillett saw Brooke Collins claim the 79th spot at 18:31, Jenna Herzog 82nd 18:33, Cassie Baranczyk 92nd 18:53, Abbey Horsens 125th 20:16 and Rebecca Wolfe 126th 20:18.

Sparks Oconto Falls
Sophomore Mike Friedman ran the course in 17:03 to lead Oconto Falls to a 6th place team finish at 162. Gillett was 11th at 314 points and Peshtigo 13th with 343.
Jason Marhal of Port Washington was first across the finish line at 16:29 followed by a trio of Freedom runners....Sam Hinz 16:38.16, Matt Vosters 16:38.52 and Joe Hinz 16:58.51.
Following Friedman for the Panthers were Mitchell Friedman 27th 17:51, Alex Young 33rd 18:04, Jim Malcheski 49th 18:43 and Liam Spillane 51st 18:43.
Accumulating 314 points, Gillett was led by Dave Rosenlund with a 23rd place time of 17:39, Max Zeitler 26th 17:46, Colin Weiss 74th 19:51, Jeremy Cibulka 83rd 20:09 and Bryce Cibulka 108th 21:08.
Aaron Bhatoya topped Peshtigo with a 9th place clocking of 17:08, freshman Tyler Nault 28th 17:55, Brad Neumann 88th 20:27, Bryce Trimberger 105th 21:05 and Eddie Jornlin 113th 21:41.
At Kiel Invitational
Competing in the 16-team Kiel Invitational Thursday, a young Marinette Marine squad struggled.
Our team is small but not short on talent or potential. With half of our team first year high school cross country runners, this year will be a lot of learning and experience building. Many of the runners put in their time training this summer and theyre coming into the season in better shape, coach Jenni Campbell said.
Senior Austin Wright paced the boys with a 5th place time of 18:05, which is 42 seconds faster than last year. Sophomore Erik Breuer was 31st at 19:35 and Jamie Wendt 116th 28:25.
The girls were sparked by Jayden Schreiner at 69th 20:07, Kathy Smith 78th 21:09 and Christina Balalamenti 83rd 21:19.
