The family of Elaine M. Bartels, 71, of Abrams received relatives and friends at Gallagher Funeral Home, Oconto from 4 p.m. until time of the funeral services at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 18. Rev. Allen Klessig officiated. She passed away Saturday, Sept. 15 at her home.
Born March 21, 1941 in the Town of Pensaukee to the late Pete and Irene (Hellman) Waldow, she married Butch Bartels on Feb. 13, 1965.
She enjoyed spending time up north with family and friends, riding four wheeler, watching sputniks across the night time sky, fishing trips to Canada with her husband, quilting and crafts and flying with Lee. Prayer and scripture reading were part of her daily routine. She was a member of the Abrams United Methodist Church from birth until it closed. She enjoyed music and singing, especially in the church choir. Besides being a wife and mother, she worked outside the house, the last being for the Commission on Aging.
Her husband Butch survives, along with two daughters, Kathi (Pete) OConnor and Jamie (Jack) Karban, both of Oconto; five grandchildren; three sisters, Gloria Peters of Oconto and Norma Erdmann and Mabel Sutrick, both of Abrams; many nieces and nephews and other family and friends.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Nancy Jo and three brothers-in-law, William Peters, LeRoy Erdmann and Daniel Sutrick.
