Expect Large Voter Turnout In Election On November 6th A heavy voter turnout is expected in the Tuesday, Nov. 6 election to decide races on the national, state and county levels.
Races include president, U.S. Senate, representative to congress, State Senate District 12 and 30, Assembly Districts 36 and 30 and 89 and on the county level for Marinette County Register of Deeds.
Voters can split their ticket by voting for some candidates in one party and others in another party.
With billions of dollars already spent in the presidential race, voters will select a president and vice president on the same ballot only. On the Republican ticket are Mitt Romney for president and Paul Ryan for vice president. Democratic ticket has Barack Obama for president and Joe Biden for vice president.
The presidential race has been so close that it impossible to predict a winner.
The Constitution party has Vigil Goode for president and Jim Clymer for vice president. There are four Independent parties also. They are Libertarian Gary Johnson, president and James P. Gray, vice president; Socialism and Liberation party Gloria LaRiva, president and Filberto Ramirez Jr., vice president; Socialist Equality party Jerry White, president and Phyliss Scherrer, vice president and Green party Jill Stein, president and Ben Manski, vice president.
For the U.S. Senate race are Republican Tommy G. Thompson and Democrat Tammy Baldwin. Candidate on the Libertarian party is Joseph Kexel.
Candidates for the District 8 Congressional seat, which includes Marinette County are Reid J. Ribble, Republican and Jamie Wall, Democratic.
For the State Senate District 12 race, which also includes a portion of Marinette County, candidates are Tom Tiffany, Republican, and Susan Sommer, Democrat.
In the District 30 State Senate race, which includes a portion of Marinette County, are John Macco, Republican, and Dave Hansen, Democrat.
For the District 36 Assembly race, which includes part of Marinette County are Jeffrey L. Mursau, Republican and Dorothy Kegley, Democrat.
Candidate for the District 89 Assembly race, which includes a portion of Marinette County, are John Nygren, Republican, and Joe Reinhard, Democrat.
On the County level, the contested race for Register of Deeds is between Renee Miller, Republican and Tom Faller, Democrat. Having no opposition in their bid for re-election are Republicans Kathy Brandt, county clerk, and Bev Noffke, treasurer. Also having no opposition for re-election is Allen R. Brey, district attorney on the Democratic ticket.
