Nancy Lee Belekevich, 64, of Cedar Rapids died Friday, Nov. 2.
Born July 20, 1948 in Norway, Mi., the daughter of William and Marie (Namchuk) Huempfner, she married Larry Belekevich on March 1, 1969 in Wausaukee
She worked for many years in social and community services before retiring from United Way of Cedar Rapids. She had an adventurous spirit and found peace and inspiration in nature. She enjoyed every opportunity to explore the world, from her backyard in the Midwest to the Pacific Northwest and Canada and always looked forward to her yearly escape from the winter, visiting her sons in Costa Rica. Throughout her travels in life, she made friends wherever she went, a result of her selflessness, kindness and generosity. She and her husband volunteered at Meals on Wheels, where everyone looked forward to the smile she brought to their day.
Survivors include her husband of 43 years, Larry; two sons, Thomas L. (Robert Maulin) Belekevich of Atenas, Costa Rica and Andrew A. (Tiffany) Belekevich of Cedar Rapids; her siblings, Bonnie (Harold) Albright of Peshtigo, Judy (Neal) Piotrowski and Daniel (Nona) Huempfner, both of Green Bay, Larry (Jane) Huempfner of Athelstane and William Huempfner, jr. of Wausaukee and two grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Randy.
Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 9 at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories.
