Eugene S. Janus
Eugene S. Geno Janus, 78, longtime Green Bay area resident, formerly of Crivitz, died peacefully Friday, Nov. 16.
Born Oct. 8, 1934 in Pulaski to the late Stephen and Rose (Koslowski) Janus, he served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict from 1953 to 1956.
On Sept. 5, 1959 he married Grace Leidel in Green Bay and they enjoyed more than 40 years of marriage until she preceded him in death on July 11, 2000. He worked as an automotive mechanic at Koeller Phillips 66 service station in Green Bay. He later purchased the business and ran it until his retirement in 1995. In his retirement, they moved to Crivitz where he worked as a handyman at the Country Convenience Store. He returned to Green Bay recently to be closer to his family. While living in Green Bay, he was a longtime member of St. Jude Parish. He enjoyed bowling with his wife for many years and spending time at their cottage in Crivitz.
He is survived by six children, Sue Knaus of Green Bay, Marcia ( Dan) Nader and George (Gloria Strenn) Janus, both of Howard, Dave (Lisa Rhein) Janus of Manitowoc and Calvin (Joanne) Janus and Jay (Katrina) Janus, both of Suamico; a stepdaughter, Linda Warner of Bellevue; 10 grandchildren; four brothers and two sisters, Roger (Claudia) Janus, Ron (Lowie) Janus, Robert Janus, Fred (Linda) Janus, Sandy (Rick) Kreutzberg and Linda (Dave) Herrera and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Besides his parents and his wife, Grace, he was preceded in death by a son, Scott Janus; two brothers, Richard Janus and Patrick Janus and a step son-in-law, Duane Warner.
Friends called at Blaney Funeral Home, Green Bay from 3 p.m. until time of the funeral service at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 20. Toni Jendrasiak, SSND officiated and entombment was in Fort Howard Memorial Park.
