Elaine M. Axtell

Elaine M. Axtell, 84, of Menominee passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side on Friday, Nov. 23.

The former Elaine Jean was born July 18, 1928 in Wagner to the late Ernest “Patti” and Bernice (Bruette) Jean. She attended school in Wausaukee then later moved to Marinette, where she attended Marinette High School.

On July 1, 1950 she married her sweetheart Dale Axtell at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Marinette. Recently they celebrated 62 years together. She was an avid homemaker who enjoyed flower gardening which was very evident in the beautiful flower gardens surrounding her home. She further enjoyed designing and sewing clothes and knitting for her children and grandchildren. She was a very devoted wife, mother and grandmother, never missing anything that her family was involved in.

An active member of Resurrection Parish, she served on the lunch committee and was also very active in the Menominee Catholic School, 4-H and Scouting.

She is survived by her husband, Dale of 62 years; her stepmother, Delores Seifert of Pound; two daughters, Pat Axtell-Palmer of Menominee and Kricket (Ken) Uecke of Marinette; a son, Ron (Karen Kloida) Axtell of Menominee; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a sister, Beverly Dana of Kewaunee; many nieces, nephews and cousins and a very special family friend, Valerie Jacobson.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Wanda Burgess of Pembine.

Family and friends may call at Cadieu-Thielen Funeral Home on Wednesday, Nov. 28 from 5 p.m. until the time of the vigil service at 7 p.m. with Fr. Mike Chenier officiating. A Mass of Christian burial will be offered on Thursday, Nov. 29 at 11 a.m. at Resurrection Parish. Fr. Michael Chenier will also officiate and burial will be in Menominee Riverside Cemetery.

Donna DeKeyser

Visitation was held from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 25 at Jones Funeral Service in Oconto Falls, for Donna DeKeyser, 80, of Oconto Falls.

Visitation continued after 10 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 26 at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Oconto Falls until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Fr. Joel Sember officiated and burial followed in the church cemetery. She passed away early Wednesday morning, Nov. 21 at home.

Born Dec. 9, 1931 in the Town of Spruce to Louis and Anna (Massard) Tessier, she grew up in the Oconto Falls area and attended school. She graduated from Oconto Falls High School with the Class of 1950 and on June 6, 1953 married Orville M. Meyer. The couple had five children.

As a young woman she attended nursing school and graduated with an LPN degree. She was employed as a nurse, mostly in the ER Department, at Community Memorial Hospital in Oconto Falls for over 25 years. On Oct. 21, 1978 she married John “Jack” DeKeyser in Lake Tahoe, Nev. and the couple continued to live in Oconto Falls. They enjoyed traveling together. She was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Oconto Falls and volunteered for the CMH Auxiliary following her retirement.

Survivors are five children, Cindy Meyer of Woodland Park, Colo., Bruce Meyer, Jody Meyer and Lisa (Dan Groth) Meyer, all of Oconto Falls and Jon (Bridget) Meyer of Castle Rock, Colo.; three grandchildren; two stepdaughters, Sue (Mark) DeKeyser and Cheri DeKeyser and their children and grandchildren; a brother, Jerry (Edna Mae) Tessier of Athelstane; a sister, Lucille Judd of Sullivan, Ill.; a brother-in-law, David Nelson of Parker, Ariz. and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her two husbands; two brothers, Gordon and Sylvan Tessier and two sisters, Jean Valentine and Shirley Nelson.
