Pedersen Is Big 10 Top Tight End

Former Menominee Maroon football standout and current Wisconsin Badger, Jacob Pedersen, was named the Big Tens top tight end for the 2012 season. The Badgers had 7 first team selections overall in separate voting by the coaches and media.
Only a junior, the 64, 245 pound Pedersen caught 25 passes for 337 yards and 4 touchdowns this season for first team honors. For his efforts, Pedersen received the Kwalick-Clark Tight End of the Year award, named after Penn States Ted Kwalick and Iowas Dallas Clark.
Wisconsin running back Montee Ball earned the top running back award for the second straight year with 1528 yards rushing and 18 touchdowns.
Other Badgers on the first team offense were receiver Jared Abbrederis, tackle Rick Wagner and center Travis Frederick. Defensive honors went to linebackers Chris Borland and Mike Taylor. Frederick and Taylor were first team media picks.
Wisconsin (7-5) will take on Nebraska (10-2) in the Big Ten championship game Saturday in Indianapolis at 7pm. The winner will earn a berth in the Rose Bowl game on New Years Day.
