THE CITY REBORN FROM THE ASHES OF AMERICA'S MOST DISASTROUS FOREST FIRE
Wilbert Bill Marquardt, 73, formerly of Lena, passed away on Monday, Dec. 10 at Brookview Independent Living Apartments in Howard.
Born March 31, 1939 to the late George and Wanda Marquardt, on July 9, 1960 he married the former Merle Marie Radtke.
They briefly resided in Peshtigo until moving to Lena to farm and owned and operated Marquardt Home Improvement for which he took great pride and joy. They attended Our Savior Lutheran Church where he served on the council. His wife, Merle preceded him in death on Feb. 23, 1994 and he later married Karin Winther. She preceded him in death in 2007.
Surviving are two sons, Randall (Charlene) Marquardt of Manawa and Richard (Amy) Marquardt of Suamico; a daughter, Julie Marquardt of Estero, Fla.; seven grandsons and four great-grandsons. He is also survived by four brothers, Harold (Esther) Marquardt, Leonard (Audrey) Marquardt, Robert (Carol) Marquardt and Roy (Burnette) Marquardt; three brothers-in-law, Donald Heise, Frank Bichanich and Leonard Zorn; a sister-in-law, Irene Marquardt; a special niece, Linda Peterson and many other nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents and his wives, Merle Marquardt and Karin Marquardt, he was preceded in death by a brother, George Marquardt and three sisters, Lorraine Bichanich, Io Mae Zorn and Ila Fae Heise.
Friends may call at Our Savior Lutheran Church, Lena on Thursday, Dec. 13 from 4 p.m. until the time of funeral services at 6 p.m. with Pastor Ryan Landwehr officiating. He will be laid to rest at Pine Hill Cemetery, Spruce. Rhodes Charapata Funeral Home, Lena is assisting the family.
