Donald G. Jagiello Big Don JP, 76, of Lena passed away peacefully with family by his side on Tuesday, Dec. 18.
Born March 14, 1936 in Lena to the late Frank and Mildred (Borkovec) Jagiello, on July 14, 1956 he married Marlene Durocher at St. Charles Catholic Church, Lena.
He farmed his entire life on the farm that he was raised on and was a Dairyland Seed Dealer for 43 years. In the late 1960s he was recognized as Outstanding Young Farmer of the Yearand in 1984 and 1987 he received the FFA Achievement Award. He was also honored at the 2010 Rural Urban Banquet. Lena Town Constable for 38 years he also operated the grader and snowplow for the Town of Lena.
He was a lifelong member of St. Charles, now St. Anne Catholic Church and belonged to the Lena Lions for 15 years. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren and also the time he spent at his cabin, hunting, snowmobiling and traveling.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Marlene; four children, Brenda (Jim) Barker of Cle Elum, Wash., Duane (Sherry) Jagiello and Bruce (Debbie) Jagiello, both of Lena and Marla (Troy) Wagner of Coleman; two extended sons, Brad (Janet) Glime of Lena and Daniel (Janet) Glime of Coleman; a daughter-in-law, Cheri Jagiello of Bellingham, Wash.; 15 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a sister, Carol (Lyle) Demmith of Lena; a sister-in-law, Sharon Jagiello of Lena and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Adell; a son, Dean and a brother, Ronald.
Friends called at Rhodes-Charapata Funeral Home, Lena from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 21, with a parish wake service at 7 p.m. Visitation continued on Saturday, Dec. 22 at St. Anne Catholic Church, Lena from 9 a.m. until the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. Fr. Celestine Byekwaso officiated and interment was at St. Charles Cemetery, Lena.
