Eugene A. Mayer
Eugene Arthur Mayer, 77, of Stephenson, MI. passed away Friday, Dec. 28 at his home. Born in Green Valley on July 13, 1935 to the late Arthur and Fern (Nelson) Mayer, he enlisted in the US Army in 1953, serving for 4 years. He married Daisymae Sallis Jan. 23, 1960, and she preceded him in death May 12, 1996. He then married Elaine M. Wangerin April 24, 1999.
He worked for 21st Century Genetics as a A1 technician retiring in 1997. A member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church of Daggett, MI., he served on the church council. He enjoyed snowmobiling, 4 wheeling, fishing, gardening, Ferguson tractors, and Belgian horses.
Survivors include his wife, Elaine of Stephenson, MI.; a son, Mark (Laura) of Menasha; a daughter Becky (Ted) Perron of Carney, MI.; step daughter, Shannon (Jim Gray) Velich of Menominee, MI.; six grandchildren; two great granddaughters; a brother, Dale (Julie); four sisters, Violet Pollock, Marlene (Dick) Brener, Mary Mayer, and Pearl (Bert) Sylvander.
Visitation was Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2013 after 4 PM with military rites at 7 PM followed by a short prayer service at Anderson Diehm Funeral Home of Stephenson, MI.
Visitation continued Wednesday at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Daggett from 10 AM, with a prelude of music from 10:30 until the service hour at 11AM. Pastor Craig Weber officiated.
Entombment is Thursday, Jan. 3, in Wisconsin Memorial Park in Brookfield.
