Berchel L. Botkin, 52, of Marinette passed away Friday evening, Jan. 11 at his home, surrounded by his family.
Born Dec. 7, 1960 in Bloomington, Ind., in early childhood he was adopted and grew up in Michigan. He married the former Carol Bargo in 1981 in Ypsilanti, Mi. and they moved to Marinette shortly after their marriage, residing there since.
He was employed by Natural Casing Co. of Peshtigo and later worked at Green Bay Packaging. He loved riding his bike and fishing in area waters. He was a loving husband and devoted father and grandfather. A hard worker, he was always willing to assist anyone in need of help without asking anything in return. He was a member of Holy Family Parish.
He is survived by his wife, Carol; five children, Jason (Sarah) Bargo, Jesse Botkin, Monica (Brent) Barber, Joseph (Laura) Botkin and James Botkin; five grandchildren; three brothers, Robert, James and Wayne and four sisters, Merci, Cissy, MaryAnn and Bonnie.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Billy and an infant brother.
Friends may call at Hansen-Onion-Martell Funeral Home, Marinette, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 18, with a parish vigil service held at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue at the funeral home after 10 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 19. A Funeral Mass will be offered at 11 a.m. on Saturday at Holy Family Parish-Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Taylor St., by Rev. Joseph Dorner. Burial will be in Glenwood Memorial Gardens.
