Issue Date: January 17, 2013
Three-time defending state champion and winners of 21 of the last 23 M-O Conference wrestling titles, Coleman claimed 10 bouts to turn back host Crivitz Thursday 56-22. Opening the M-O Conference match with 6 straight wins, Coleman jumped out to a commanding 32-0 lead.
I was a little concerned on how our team was going to respond coming off the holiday break, but they came out and wrestled with great intensity from start to finish. One of the best matches of the night was 220 where CJ Pillath came back from a 6 point deficit and pinned Rodriguez, who is one of Crivitzs better wrestlers in the last period, Coleman coach Kevin Casper said. Overall, all of our kids wrestled very well.
Six of the Coleman wins came via pins compliments of Jensyn Schaal 120, Jackson Margis 126, Marc Lansin 132, Trevor Seewald 145, Isaac Nowak 195 and CJ Pillath at 285.
Other wins for the Cougars were Kevin Lansin 9-0 over Parker DeLosSantos at 138, Mason Mergener 19-4 technical fall over Jake Dobesh 152, Dexter Karban 19-3 technical fall over Roberto Santos and a forfeit to Derick Teteak at 106.
The point total for Crivitz saw George Beattie dispose of Hunter Stodola at 170 by a 12-0 score, Danny Tomaszewski pin Jordan Micheels with :09 ticks left at 182, Dustin McNamer put Brandon Champagne on his back at 113 while Zach Timblin won on a forfeit in the 285 bout.
