Ann E. Jorgensen, 78, of Madison passed away Monday, Nov. 26, 2012.
Born Dec. 8, 1933 to the Rev. Raymond J. and Margaret (Strine) Tyson, he grew up in Pennsylvania and graduated from Mechanicsburg High School in 1951 and Kutztown State College with a bachelor of science degree in 1955.
Her first career was as a librarian. She met her late husband, Arthur W. Jorgensen, jr. while working as a librarian for the United States Army Dependent Education Group in Wurzburg, Germany. The couple were married on Jan. 31, 1964. They moved to Marinette where she volunteered as a librarian at a local elementary school and performed in several productions of Theater on the Bay. She and her son moved to Madison in 1976, where she started a career as a travel agent. She loved to travel and during her lifetime travels visited countries on almost every continent. She also enjoyed singing and shared the gift of her voice with several church choirs.
Surviving are a son, Arthur W. (Lori) Jorgensen, III of Madison; a brother, James D. (Jan) Tyson and a sister, Mary (Ken) Hair, both of Carlisle, Pa. and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Arthur.
A memorial service will be held at Otterbein United Methodist Church, 647 Forge Road, Carlisle, Pa. at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 31, followed by interment at Zion United Methodist Cemetery, Red Lion, Pa. Kuhner Associates Funeral Directors, Inc., York, Pa. is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in her memory to Agrace HospiceCare, 5395 E. Cheryl Parkway, Madison, WI 53711.
