Menominee Splits GNC Cage Clashes

The Menominee Maroons earned a split of Great Northern Conference hardwood clashes this past week, beating Gladstone 65-55 on the road Friday before falling to Kingsford at home Monday night 57-36.
The split leaves the Maroons at 7-9 overall and 3-4 in the GNC.
Menominee has 3 games remaining on the schedule...Friday hosting Iron Mountain before hitting the road for games at Carney-Nadeau Feb. 26 and Stephenson Feb. 28.
Late Free Throws
Seal 65-55 Victory
Over Gladstone Fri.
Connecting on 10 straight free throws in the final minutes, the Maroons knocked off host Gladstone Friday 65-55. Menominee jumped out to a 21-8 first quarter lead before Gladstone closed the gap to 34-26 at halftime.
Bryan Hines, who connected for a game high 24 points, found the range four times from behind the arc in the opening half. Jared Rivard added 13 points and 10 rebounds while Jeremy Rivard chipped in with 10 points.
Taking a 48-39 lead into the fourth quarter, Menominee saw the Braves stay within striking distance before going 10-10 in the final minutes.
Maroons Get Kicked
By Kingsford 57-36
Falling behind 38-18 at halftime, the Maroons never recovered in suffering a 57-36 GNC loss to visiting Kingsford Monday night.
Now 5-2 in league play, the Flivvers finished with a 24-49 shooting mark (49%), including 6-12 on three point shots.
Chris Harrington topped the Flivvers with 25 points, 4 shots from behind the arc, Cole Michaud added 11 and Aidan Wienke 8.
Menominees top gun was Jared Rivard with 11 points, Jaden Kleinke added 8 and Jeremy Rivard 7.
Menominee won the jayvee game 64-52 but fell in the freshman outing 61-47.
