Kenneth L. Berg, 88, of Porterfield passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, Feb. 19 at his home.
Born Aug. 31, 1924 in Marinette to Carl and Emma Berg, he was a lifelong resident of Marinette County, residing all of his life on the Berg family homestead in the Town of Wagner.
A veteran of the United States Army, he farmed for many years along with raising beef cattle and operating his own sawmill. He also worked for the Marinette County Highway Department as an equipment operator. He was a naturalist and animal lover, enjoyed bird watching and will be remembered as an honest and caring man.
He is survived by a sister, Helen Wright; many nieces and nephews and a special friend, Peggy Runnoe.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers and sisters, Myrtle Nettleton, Edwin Berg, Clarice Sebero and Lloyd Berg.
Friends called at Hansen-Onion-Martell Funeral Home in Marinette from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 24. Funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 25 at Porterfield Lutheran Church. Rev. Chad Anderson officiated and burial was in Glenwood Memorial Gardens.
