From our readers Letter to the Editor:
I am writing to encourage the voters of Marinette County to vote for Allen R. Brey for circuit court judge in the upcoming election.
I have known Al for over 25 years. I met Al when I recruited him from his position as an assistant district attorney in the Wood County District Attorneys office to come and serve as district attorney in my county, Taylor County. In that position, Al demonstrated his ability as a prosecutor. He was aggressive and tough in his prosecution of cases, but also demonstrated a sense of fairness in making charging decisions and dealing with people. He handled cases from the mundane to one that is most likely the most sensational double murder trial our county has ever experienced. His abilities as an attorney, as a tough prosecutor along with his fairness will make him a great judge for Marinette County.
I know he has served Marinette County as an able prosecutor. I also know that he has handled the more difficult cases that your county has experienced in recent times. Please give him the opportunity to continue to serve Marinette County as your circuit court judge.
Very truly yours,
JENSEN, SCOTT, GRUNEWALD
& SHIFFLER, S.C.

Letter to the Editor:
My name is Cathi Malke and I am proud to support Allen Brey for Marinette County Circuit Court Judge.
I wanted to make a difference in the community I lived in and became an Alderperson for the City of Peshtigo. I am very proud of our Police Department and support them 110%. I have a lot of respect for Chief Kline and his opinion when he supports Allen Brey for Judge. He has worked first hand through the years with Marinette Countys District Attorney Allen Brey, who has proven to be a fair but tough prosecutor. Who better to make a recommendation for Circuit Court Judge than those who have worked law enforcement for many years. The following have given their support for Allen Brey: Chief Kline from Peshtigo, Chief Soletske from Coleman, Chief Frievalt from Crivitz, Chief Lemoreaux from Niagara, retired Chief Skorik from Marinette and retired Sheriff Kanikula. This speaks volumes to me as to Allens level of integrity, work ethic and professionalism.
I have been a member of the Emergency Rescue Squad for 17 years and have seen first hand the destruction caused when we respond to 911 calls when people make poor decisions that have a direct effect on peoples lives through domestic violence, drug or alcohol related calls, traffic accidents and fatalities. Some calls youll never forget and its hard for the caregiver to move on. Sometimes its unimaginable what one human being can do to another. Allen Brey as District Attorney has worked hard to represent us and afforded families closure, while holding individuals accountable for their actions. He has the experience that will make him a great judge.
What I like about Allen Brey is that he has been a Marinette County resident for almost 20 years. He has been here for us, hes been our neighbor and hes been working hard to make our communities a safer place to live.
Please take the time to vote with me on April 2 and elect Allen Brey as our next Circuit Court Judge.
Respectfully,
Cathi Malke
To the Editor:
We are in the heart of the Lenten Season, soon to be Easter Season, and with it there are many special Scripture lessons that point to Maundy Thursday, Good Friday and Easter.
The following are the seven last words or phrases of Jesus from the cross, also known as the Devotion of the Three Hours (from noon on Friday to 3:00 p.m., to remember Christs hours on the cross): 1.) Luke 23:34 - Father, forgive them. 2.) Luke 23:43 - Today, you will be with Me in paradise. 3.) John 19:26-27 - Woman, here is your Son. 4.) Mark 15.34 (Matthew 27:46) - My God, why have you forsaken Me? 5.) John 19:28 - I am thirsty. 6.) John 19:30a - It is finished. 7.) Luke 23:46 - Into Your hands I commend My spirit.
For Maundy Thursday through Good Friday, there are 14 stations of the cross with a summary and related Scripture: 1.) Jesus prays alone, Take this cup from Me, Luke 22:39-44. 2.) Jesus is arrested, Have you come with swords? Matthew 26:47-56. 3.) Sanhedrin tries Jesus, Are you the Christ? Mark 14:61-64. 4.) Pilate tries Jesus, Are you the King of the Jews? John 18:33-37. 5.) Pilate sentences Jesus, Crucify Him, Mark 15:6-15. 6.) Jesus wears crown, Here is the Man, John 19.5.
7.) Jesus carries His cross, I lay it down of My own, John 10:17-18. 8.) Simon carries cross, Simon the Cyrene, Luke 23:26. 9.) Jesus speaks to the women, Weep for yourselves, Luke 23:27-31. 10.) Jesus is crucified, Jesus on the cross, Luke 23:33-34. 11.) Criminals speak to Jesus, Today you will be with me, Luke 23:29-43. 12.) Jesus speaks to Mary, John, Woman this is your Son, John 19:25b-27. 13.) Jesus dies on the cross, It is accomplished, John 19:28-34. 14.) Jesus is laid in tomb, There they laid Jesus, John 19:38-42.
For Easter: Matthew 28:1-10, Jesus is raised while the guards shake. Mark 16:1-8, Who will roll away the stone for us? Luke 24:1-12, Why look for the living among the dead? John 20:1-18, I am returning to My Father and to your Father, to My God and your God.
May these Scriptures richly bless and encourage you and yours this Lenten and Easter Season.
Sincerely,
Pastor Jean,

Editor:
I am writing this letter on behalf of Allen Brey for Marinette County Circuit Court Judge.
I made my decision by looking into both candidates qualifications and more importantly, leaving politics out of my decision. I found that Allen Brey is the most qualified person for the job. Allen Brey is the only candidate that has lived in Marinette County for nearly 20 years. He has earned my trust and support as he has committed himself to protecting the citizens of Marinette County. Allen Brey has been there for us and now is the time we need to support him. Show him you appreciate the years he committed himself to Marinette County. Please take the time to vote April 2. Every vote does count and make yours be heard.

Re: Coleman Wrestling
As an old member of the Coleman Wrestling Program, I wish to thank all those young and some not so young that keep one of the BEST sports programs going. Besides having the best wrestling coaches in the state, to name all those that contribute to teaching would be impossible. To name all those behind the scenes would be a greater task. When no one cares who gets the credit, and all work together, great things can happen. As an over-the-hill member, its great to watch a well-oiled machine work.
I want to say thank you to all for their endless work.
It enlightens me when I hear from grandmas that they were watching on their computers who is doing what when the kids are wrestling because age has kept them away from the live tournaments. And, they cant wait for the Peshtigo Times to arrive so they can get the results and then review the results again.
GO COUGARS!

To the Editor:
Allen Brey is an honest man devoted to seeking justice. He looks for the truth and is extremely fair. Allen doesnt care what your name is, where you live or who your relatives are. His only concern is the law. Allen Brey listens to people and treats everyone with the dignity he/she deserves. As a tough prosecutor he has applied good judgment, compassion and integrity. As a judge he will apply appropriate sentences for all convicted criminals and make sure the law of the State of Wisconsin is upheld.
Dedicated to working with all Marinette County law enforcement agencies to protect the rights of all its citizens, Allen often works long hours. He believes taxpayers deserve a full days work for a full days pay. His opponent believes its all right to work a second position during court hours. No extended evening hours are provided for the hours missed on Tuesdays and Thursdays when his courtroom doesnt open until 10 a.m.
Allen Brey has lived in Marinette for almost 20 years as an active participant and supporter of both the City of Marinette and Marinette County activities and organizations as well as governmental concerns. He didnt live in Menominee, Mich. since the 1970s, only moving to Marinette when he heard a political plum was coming his way. The appropriateness of his appointment was even discussed in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
April 2 is the time for you to cast your ballot for a man of conscience, consistency and courage. Make your vote count. Vote for the only candidate we can all trust, Allen Brey.

Letter to the Editor:
Re: Allen Brey for Circuit Court Judge
The election of Circuit Court Judge for Marinette County is less than a month away. We have personally talked with many people from Marinette to Niagara and points in between about Allen Brey and what he offers as Circuit Court Judge of Marinette County. When we say he has over 25 years of experience in Criminal Law, they consistently say, We need someone like that.
Yes, Allen Brey has an honorable character to fill the position, and he is surely a noble, just and humble man. His priority is serving the citizens of Marinette County by making life better and safer for all of us.
We believe that this election for Circuit Court Judge comes down to one basic question: Do we, the citizens of Marinette County, want a judge who is experienced in Criminal Law or not? We can make this analogy: If you have a serious and specific illness, do you go to a health specialist in that field to get the best answers and care, or do you go to a general practitioner?
Most of us know there are serious and repeated crimes in Marinette County. Crimes that only happened in the big cities are now at our doorstep in the cities, towns and villages of Marinette County. We have learned that over 75 percent of the cases coming before the Circuit Court Judges in our county are criminal. Does it not make sense then to conclude that the candidate with over 25 years of experience in Criminal Law would be the best choice?
Allen Brey not only offers his background in Criminal Law; he also is serving his second term as District Attorney of Marinette County. He knows Wisconsin Law because that is what he has practiced his entire career.
It is our belief that the person elected will take on a very important and very serious position. Peoples lives will be in his hands. When the judge hands down a sentence, that sentence will affect the person, family, friends and community. As citizens in Marinette County, we need to vote for the candidate who is qualified beyond a reasonable doubt.
So, again we ask: Do you, as a citizen of Marinette County, want a Circuit Court Judge who is experienced in Criminal Law? If your answer is yes, then please vote for Allen Brey on Tuesday, April 2, 2013.
Sincerely,
Ken and Linda OBrien,
Marinette
To the Editor:
Winter
Winter is a savage beast
That covers up the summer past
And all the wildflowers lay in wait
Under the coating of its white mass.
Long and cold are the days
That even the sun hides away
Behind shivering clouds in the sky
Forlorned and lost in yesterday.
Oh, winter, why are you so cold?
Do you not have a heart like I?
If you do, please show me it once
So I dont her the wildflowers cry.
