1st Team Bay Honors For Boivin And Klegin
Two of the top Marinette Marine athletes, Jaden Boivin and Derek Klegin, were voted to first team berths on the Bay Conference squads.
One of the finest wrestlers to wear the purple and white, Boivin put together a 42-3 campaign and a fourth place state finish to cap his senior season. Working the 160 pound mats, Boivin was the lone Marine selected to the first team Bay squad.
Oconto Falls put 5 players on the starting team in Gunner Leisner 113, Sam Konitzer 120, Dewey Krueger 132, Mitch Friedman 138 and three-time state champion Jacob Morrissey 170.
Marinettes Ryan Thill earned honorable mention votes at 170.
Oconto Falls also saw heavyweight Keith Styczynski named to the second team and John Kamps (182) honorable mention.
As Bay Starter
Senior guard Derek Klegin, who paced the Bay Conference in scoring with a 22.7 average, was selected to the elite first team in the balloting by the leagues coaches.
The lone bright spot during a dismal 8-15 campaign, Klegin set the school record for most points in a season with 521 and has scored 912 for his career.
Unanimous first team picks included player of the year in 67 sophomore Cody Schwartz of West DePere, Jacob Bamke of Hortonville and Sandy Cohen of Seymour. Rounding out the starting squad was Dakota Oskey of Seymour.
Second team included Chandler Diekvoss, West DePere; Chris Steingraber, New London; Brendan Thomas, Hortonville; Dalton LeFebvre, Denmark; Zack Sousek, Shawano and Caleb Williams, Lux-Casco.
Honorable mention votes went to Carson Falk and Jake Zeitler, Lux-Casco; Jack Kochen West DePere; Brian Heiden, Seymour and Will Cox of Shawano.

Oconto Falls junior guard McKenna Larsen was one of two unanimous selections to the girls all-Bay squad.
Leading the Bays best was player of the year in Brenna Heise of New London (unanimous) along with Allison von Brevern, Seymour; Whitney Boda, Shawano and Kendell Truttman, Denmark.
Second teamers were Mickey Roland, New London; Bailey Denis, West DePere; Carly Lemke, Oconto Falls; Emily Ingelese, Hortonville and Lexi Kinnard, Lux-Casco.
A pair of Marinette cagers picked up honorable mention votes in Amanda Lesandrini and Cassie Hilbert along with Maddi Plinska, Seymour; Jenny Spang, Oconto Falls; Cambria Fitzgerald, New London and Meagan Rahn, West DePere.
