Emma L. Peeters, 93, of Wausaukee passed away peacefully on Monday, March 18 at NEWCare Convalescent Center in Crivitz.
Born in Wausaukee on Dec. 8, 1919, she was the daughter of John and Laura (Mocco) Sucharda.
She married Frank Peeters, jr. on Jan. 25, 1940 at St. Augustine Catholic Church and the couple owned and operated a dairy farm for many years. Active with the church ladies of St. Augustine, she loved to cook and bake and especially enjoyed cooking Christmas Eve dinners. She was known for baking her famous chocolate chip cookies and apple pies. She also loved to spend time outdoors and was proud that she cut her own lawn at home.
She is survived by three children, Mary Ann Zahn and Betty (Norbert) Betley, both of Wausaukee and Francis (Carolyn) Peeters of Peshtigo; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Mary Van Caster; a brother-in-law, Rudy Messar and a sister-in-law, Ardella Sucharda.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank, jr., parents; a brother, Charles; a sister, Rose Swanson and sons-in-law, Gordon Zahn and Ron Rohloff.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 23 at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Wausaukee with Fr. Don Burkart officiating. Family and friends may call from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at church on Saturday. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery this spring. Messar-Roubal Funeral Home of Wausaukee is assisting the family with arrangements.
