Helen Irene Biehl, 81, of Marinette passed away Monday, March 25 at Rennes Health Center-West in Peshtigo.
Born Feb. 8, 1932 in Marinette to the late James and Helen (Lesak) Kunesh, she attended Marinette schools and graduated from Marinette High School. She married William James Biehl on March 25, 1950 at the former St. Annes Rectory, Menominee.
The couple lived with their family in Porterfield on Highway 180 for many years, then moved to a residence on Taylor Street in Marinette. A member of St. Joseph Church, Walsh, she taught Little Church, first and eighth grade CCD for many years. In later life, she became a member of Holy Family Parish. She was employed at the former Signal Electric and at M&M Box Company. She was a special aunt to her niece, Ashley and nephew, Gerard who she took care of for many years.
Surviving are five sons and three daughters, James (Mary Ellen) of Cedarburg, Michael (special friend Patty), Douglas (special friend Kimber), Daniel (Carla) and Virginia (Bruce) Chaltry, all of Marinette, David (Laurie) of Porterfield, Mary (Fred) Prevost of Wausaukee and Michelle (Shawn) Slocum of Green Bay; 21 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; 12 step-grandchildren and eight step-great-grandchildren. She is further survived by two brothers and a sister, John (Joyce) Kunesh, Daniel Kunesh and Lois Doffeck and by Jerome Lang, Julie Biehl and her special friend, Jim Strem.
Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Bill on March 7, 1988; a son, Steve Biehl; a grandson, Coty Kotecki; three brothers, George, James and Ervin Kunesh and her mother-in-law and father-in-law.
Friends may call at Hansen-Onion-Martell Funeral Home, Marinette, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Monday, April 1. A parish vigil service will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Monday led by Deacon Jerome Thetreau. Visitation will continue at the funeral home on Tuesday morning, April 2 from 8:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. The Funeral Mass will be offered at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 2 in Holy Family Parish-Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Taylor St., by Rev. Joseph Dorner. Burial will be in Forest Home Cemetery.
