Robert A. Banker Bob Johnston, 67, of Marinette passed away Monday, March 25 at Bay Area Medical Center, Marinette after a short battle with cancer.
Born July 31, 1945 in Menominee to Allen and Dorothy (Caylor) Johnston, he spent his earliest years in McAllister before moving with his family to Marinette, proudly residing in Menekaunee.
He was a graduate of Marinette High School, Class of 1963 and was employed for 28 years by Waupaca Foundry prior to his retirement in 2008. He married the former Cindy Rupert on Aug. 17, 2001. After retirement, they bought a cabin on rural property where he enjoyed spending time with his family. He also enjoyed bonfires, family game nights and as an animal lover, spending time watching the wildlife. He took pride in spending time with his granddaughters. He was also an avid reader, a dedicated Green Bay Packer fan and coin collector. On television, he enjoyed watching wrestling, game shows and the old-time TV programs. He was a kind, caring, compassionate and thoughtful man. Although he was quiet, he touched the hearts of many.
He is survived by his wife, Cindy; two daughters, Sammi Rupert (Chad Pristelski) and Sara (Adam) Franzen; two granddaughters; his sisters and brothers, Doreena Goodlet, Geri Young, Clara (Chuck) Buelteman, Warren Johnston, Bill (Lori) Johnston, Betty Cook, Judy Senn, Kate Young and Dan Johnston; his mother-in-law, Raeleen Rupert; brothers and sisters-in-law, Jeff (Rita) Rupert, Scott (Cindy) Rupert, Mark Rupert, Wendy Rupert and Keri Lemieux; many nieces and nephews; goddaughter and special niece, Karen MeCheck and special friends, Tina Rupert, the Boese family, Sue Ray and Kara Farkle Borowczyk.
Friends may call at Hansen-Onion-Martell Funeral Home in Marinette after 3:30 p.m. on Friday, March 29. Funeral services will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home with Rev. Lee Goodwin
