SHINE Raffle on May 5th
Twenty-five youth and adults of St. Anne Parish of Lena and Coleman will take a trip to a SHINE Catholic Work Camp at Rochester, NY to help those in need. The cost for each participant is approximately $600 which includes camp registration and transportation to and from the camp.
SHINE stands for Serving Him in the Needy and Elderly. It helps young people to serve God by helping those who are elderly or needy. Young people may do one of the following: painting, yard work, cleaning, making repairs, working at a homeless shelter, soup kitchen or day care. The young grow closer to God through morning and evening worship and praise and bring home a renewed sense of faith and service to community to share.
One of their annual fundraisers is Gifts from the Heart Raffle. Members solicit prizes from area businesses and arranges them in bucket prizes, then sell tickets for a chance to win a prize. This years raffle ticket sales starts April 7 and the raffle drawing is May 5.
Kathy Lieburn is parish coordinator of youth ministry.
