THE CITY REBORN FROM THE ASHES OF AMERICA'S MOST DISASTROUS FOREST FIRE
CCC Topic of Library Presentation
Author Bill Jamerson will present a program about the Civilian Conservation Corps on Saturday, April 20 in celebration of National Library week April 14-20th. Sponsored by Mid County Public Library it will be held at the Legion Hall in Wausaukee at 2 p.m.
The camps, established in the heart of The Great Depression, not only revitalized Wisconsins natural resources but also turned the boys into men by teaching them discipline and work skills. During its nine year run beginning in 1933, a total of 92,000 young men worked in Wisconsin camps. Several CCC camps were located in Wisconsin, many in the surrounding areas.
Jamerson has authored books and several articles on the corps and in his talk will tell about some of the enrollees he met over the years, CCCprojects he visited and show a short video clip from his PBS film.
