Marinette Boys Second At Denmark 5-Team Meet
Dominating the sprints, the Marinette Marine boys came up with a second place finish at the 5-team Denmark meet on Thursday. Kewaunee claimed top honors with 123 points followed by Marinette 100, Denmark 83, Reedsville 39 and Mishicot 24.
Speed kills and the Marines had plenty of it. Dakota Vanidestine pocketed honors in the 100 at 11.42 as Marinette claimed 4 of the top 5 spots in the event with Colton Dessart second, Zach Campbell third and Jaden Boivin fifth.
The Marinette quartet of Boivin, Campbell, Dessart and Vanidestine teamed up to win the 400 and 800 relays, Austin Mahlik claimed the 1600 in 5:00.25 and Greg Raminger paced the 300 hurdles in 46.02.
Boivin soared 106 to win the pole vault. Second place finishes belonged to Mahlik in the 800 at 2:11.99 and Campbell in the high jump 58.
Senior field standout Dustin Valind also had a big day, winning the shot put in 536.5 and discus 1566.5.
On the girls side of competition, Denmark was first at 93 followed by Reedsville 78, Kewaunee 69, Marinette 61 and Mishicot 59.
Olivia Alloy enjoyed a big opening meet with a first in the triple jump (320.5) and fifth in the high jump and hurdles. Lynsee Bohan was second in the 200 (29.56) and 4th in the 100 while Abby ONeil was third in the 100, 5th in the 200 and second in the triple jump (314).
Megan Wagner added points with second in the shot and 4th in the discus, Emily Conely was third in the shot and 5th in the discus while Liz Lange finished third in the discus.
