Reino Leonard Lampinen, 91, of Carney, Mi. passed away Wednesday, April 24 at Pine Grove Medical Facility in Powers, Mi.
Born April 29, 1921 in Daggett, Mi. to the late Alice and Emil Lampinen, on Oct. 22, 1943 he married Dorothy Cole in Menominee. She preceded him in death Feb. 11, 2010.
He was employed as a truck driver his whole working career, driving for a number of local companies. During his military service in World War II, he was in charge of General Patton 's motor pool. He was a member of the Mid County VFW Post #5966 and American Legion Post #43. He was an excellent mechanic, able to fix and repair anything. He was also a very giving person, helping whenever and wherever he could.
Survivors include a daughter, Donna (Ken) Linder of Carney, Mi.; a son, David (Nickie) Lampinen of Hermansville, Mi.; seven grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and a sister, Elsie (Jim) Jones of Prescott, Az.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Walter and William and a sister, Esther.
Visitation was held on Friday, April 26 at Anderson Diehm Funeral Home after 4 p.m. with military rites at 6 p.m., followed by the funeral service. Burial was in Maple Grove Cemetery, Oakwood, Mi.
