THE CITY REBORN FROM THE ASHES OF AMERICA'S MOST DISASTROUS FOREST FIRE
Jerry Rakowski, Greenfield, passed away with his family by his side at Vitas Ruth Hospice, West Allis, after a courageous battle with Greutfeld-Jakob Disease.
Born to the late William Jr. and Stella (Malicki) Rakowski on Feb. 7, 1942 in Menominee, Mich., he was raised in Pound and graduated from Coleman High School in 1960. He met the love of his life, Janet Marie Smits in Milwaukee and they were married Oct. 26, 1963.
He worked at Allen-Bradley for 38 years and Kohls part-time before retiring. He loved woodworking, the races, snowmobiling, fishing, the great outdoors and the 4th of July.
Survivors include his wife, Janet of almost 50 years; three sons, Kieth (Jeannie) Rakowski, Kurt (Jenny) Rakowski, and Corey (Kim) Rakowski; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a brother, Alton Peterson (Pat) of West Allis, many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and one uncle, Lloyd Rakowski of Peshtigo, and many good friends.
No memorial will be held at this time. Relatives and friends may send letters or cards of condolences to their home.
